Role of Asset Manager in ITIL V3

The main responsibility of the Asset Manager is to track and control all of the assets in an organization’s IT infrastructure. The Asset Manager manages and implements the organization’s Asset Management plan, principles, processes, policies and standards.  This person also aids in the acquisition of IT assets. The Asset Manager tags and tracks each IT asset with a unique identifier. Regular audits of the assets are performed to ensure that all records are complete and up-to-date.

Moreover, the Asset Manager is responsible for making strategic decisions regarding the control, usability, and supply of the inventory pertaining to IT assets. The Asset Manager ensures that the processes carried out in Asset Management are in compliance with the policies of the company. To accomplish their responsibilities, Asset Managers work closely with Configuration Managers.

GENERAL FUNCTION: As the subject matter expert related to best practices of ITIL practice area then you will establish, modify and govern ITIL process usage throughout Information Technology; manage organizational change control process; ensure delivery of automated ITIL functions; oversee quality and governance through analytics and reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
·         Establish ITIL practice best practices and enterprise process model as the subject matter expert in the practice area
·         Training and organizational change management of the process model and best practices and tool implementation
·         Act as business analyst and product owner for ServiceNow automation delivery team of business process practice area
·         Enterprise Change Control Management function of enhancements and process change for continual service improvement and quality
·         Ensure process management standard operating procedures are in alignment of enterprise process and govern for compliance
·         Establish KRI and KPI for ITIL practice for effective governance and performance management and reporting
·         Manages the development of policy, standards, processes, procedures and guidelines for testing to be performed that is commensurate with the risk of the change being introduced.
·         Champions and directs adoption of appropriate policy, standards, processes and guidelines to enable teams to establish standard operating procedures in alignment within practice area
·         Identification and recommendation of appropriate automation and process technology support.
·         Identify KPI's and additional metrics as required to help monitor effectiveness and provide input for process improvements
·         Identification of integration points with other processes
·         Set strategic direction for implementation and approach for testing suite and coordination of UAT testing and validation
·         Build partnership with team responsible for technical support of products used by testing groups
·         Represent as the primary expert in practice area for audits
·         Audit process management and standard operating procedures for enterprise process compliance
·         Report through analytics opportunities for process execution team to improve service quality
·         Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages test team supervisors, and others in support of ITIL process functions

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
·         Requires 3-4 years of prior management/leadership experience. Requires 6-8 years of prior technical experience.
·         ITIL Certified
·         Experienced in process management execution in particular in ITIL process area.
·         Ability to coach distributed teams on process execution and process management.
·         Capable to establish Strategic vision and solution opportunities
·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a high level of integrity and personal ethics are essential.
·         Excellent presentation skills and training capabilities
·         Proven track record of leading successful transformation and OCM across functional and geographic boundaries.
·         Self-confident, driven, results-oriented, persuasive and influential.
·         Experience in developing effective teams and fostering collaboration across organizational boundaries.
·         Prior experience in rolling out a common test management methodology, defining testing standards and establishing a curriculum for all testing disciplines.
·         Familiarity with the Financial Services industry and regulatory and compliance guidelines for the Financial Services sector a plus.
·         Bachelor's degree in computer science or other relevant area.
